Two API calls. Call send to deliver a one-time code to a phone number, then call verify with the code your user entered. If it matches, the response comes back verified. There's no SDK required — it's plain HTTPS, so it works from any language or framework. Prefer a package? There's also an official Node.js/TypeScript SDK.

Codes go out over WhatsApp. Telegram fallback is automatic after the recipient completes a one-time link. If that recipient is not linked when WhatsApp delivery fails, the API returns 409 CHANNEL_NOT_LINKED with a one-tap Telegram URL that your product must display. We do not deliver codes by SMS or email.

Yes. You bring your own WhatsApp Business Account, so codes are sent from your own brand and you fully own the WABA. You'll need a phone number not already active on WhatsApp, and a Meta Business Manager account — Meta creates one for you if you don't have it. If your Meta Business is brand new, Meta may require Business Verification first: your official business registration documents and tax ID, submitted directly to Meta, never to us — typically 48 hours to 14 business days. While you wait, Telegram fallback is automatic for recipients who completed the one-time link; for anyone not linked, the API returns 409 CHANNEL_NOT_LINKED and a one-tap URL your product must display. Authevo handles the verification logic, delivery, and analytics on top of your number.

We never store plaintext phone numbers or OTPs — they're hashed with SHA-256. WhatsApp access tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM, and every webhook we send is signed so you can verify it came from us. Authevo is a verified Tech Provider on Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform (not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Meta).

Every API operation has a server-side admission policy. Sensitive sends add atomic limits by API credential, account, source IP, and recipient — including a cross-account recipient ceiling — plus spend caps, free-trial quotas, bot checks, and a Safety Floor. Clients receive Retry-After guidance so legitimate retries back off without letting auto-clickers or OTP-pumping attacks run up your bill.
