Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account, generating an API key, or otherwise accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not access or use the Service.

If you are using the Service on behalf of a company or other organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and "you" refers to that organization.

2. Description of the service

Authevo is a one-time passcode (OTP) verification API for Egypt and the wider MENA region. We generate and deliver verification codes to your end users over WhatsApp. Telegram fallback is automatic after the recipient completes a one-time link; if the recipient is not linked when WhatsApp delivery fails, the API returns 409 CHANNEL_NOT_LINKED with a one-tap Telegram URL that your product must display. We also provide TOTP verification (a rotating code from any authenticator app), which involves no message delivery and works for end users in any country.

Until you connect your own WhatsApp Business Account, your verification messages are sent through Authevo's shared WhatsApp number on a fair-use basis: limited to the destinations we have enabled for shared sending, which are listed on our pricing page and may change, and to a per-account sending volume. Connecting your own WhatsApp Business Account removes both limits and is required to send to any destination we have not enabled, or at higher volume. Your free trial covers every shared-number destination currently listed on our pricing page, and any destination once you connect your own WhatsApp Business Account.

The Service does not send codes over SMS or email. You are responsible for integrating the API into your own application and for the user experience around verification.

3. Accounts and API keys

You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date. You authenticate to the Service using secret API keys (for example, keys beginning with sk_).

You are responsible for keeping your API keys confidential. Do not embed secret keys in client-side code, public repositories, or anywhere they may be exposed. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your keys, whether or not authorized by you. Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you believe a key has been compromised.

4. Acceptable use

You may only use the Service to send verification messages to end users who are expecting them as part of your own sign-up, login, or transaction flows. You agree that you will not:

• send unsolicited, bulk, or marketing messages, or otherwise use the Service for spam;
• send verification codes to recipients who have not initiated an action that warrants them;
• use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, harassing, or abusive purpose;
• violate Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform policies, Telegram's terms and policies, or any other applicable third-party platform rules;
• attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, or circumvent the security, rate limits, or safeguards of the Service.

You are responsible for complying with all laws and regulations applicable to your use of the Service, including those relating to messaging, consent, and the protection of personal data.

5. Pricing and payment

The first 50 successful verifications are free. New accounts are then billed on a per-message basis (currently $0.006 per message sent) until they reach 500 successful verifications, after which pay-per-successful-verification applies. Shared-number rates vary by destination country and are published on the pricing page; $0.01 is the current steady-state Egypt rate and the standard Authevo software fee when you use your own WhatsApp number, while Meta bills own-number delivery directly. TOTP verifications are priced separately at $0.002 per successful verification. A minimum account balance (currently $2.00) is required after the free allowance. No subscription is required.

Prepaid credit is consumed as you use the Service, and you choose how much to add. You can top up from your dashboard in two ways. (1) By card via Polar, our international payment processor and merchant of record — minimum $20 per top-up, charged in US dollars, with a processing fee added and shown before you pay. Your card statement will show Polar, not Authevo. This is credited to your balance automatically once payment completes. (2) By InstaPay bank transfer from an Egyptian bank account — minimum $5 per top-up, charged in Egyptian pounds at the conversion rate quoted to you when you make the request. InstaPay top-ups are not instant: we credit them manually after we confirm the transfer against our own bank records, and we may decline a transfer we cannot match to your request. Authevo is not yet a registered company, so a credited top-up is a payment record, not a tax invoice.

To deter abuse and runaway spend, a Safety Floor may apply a per-message charge to abusive or anomalous traffic, including messages sent that do not result in a successful verification. We may update pricing from time to time; changes will apply to usage after the change takes effect.

Prepaid credit has no cash value. Except where a refund is required by applicable law, credit is generally non-refundable; however, if a payment is not credited correctly or you were charged in error, contact us at [email protected] and we will work with you to resolve it.

6. Service availability

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We operate the Service on a best-effort basis and do not promise any uptime service level agreement (SLA) at this stage.

Message delivery over WhatsApp and Telegram depends on third-party platforms outside our control, and delivery is not guaranteed. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features of the Service at any time.

7. Intellectual property

Authevo and its licensors own all rights, title, and interest in and to the Service, including the API, dashboard, documentation, and all related software, trademarks, and content. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the Service in accordance with these Terms.

You retain ownership of the data and content you submit to the Service. You grant us the rights necessary to process that data solely to operate and provide the Service to you.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any message will be delivered.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Authevo and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Service. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the three months preceding the event giving rise to the liability, or fifty United States dollars ($50).

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in abuse or fraud, failed to pay amounts due, or created risk or legal exposure for us or others.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — will survive.

10. Governing law and changes to these terms

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of Egypt. We'll revisit this if the business structure changes (for example, once we register a legal entity).

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
